Radon Info
Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over the state of Wisconsin. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into homes through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home can trap radon inside.
About one in every 10 homes in Wisconsin is estimated to have an elevated radon level.

Health Risks

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell, or taste radon. But it still may be a problem in your home. When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. The Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Testing and Mitigation

Testing is the only way to find out the level of radon in a home. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If high levels of radon are discovered, a professional mitigation system can reduce the radon in the home. Even very high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels. A+ Inspections conducts radon testing using a continuous radon monitor. The device is placed in the lowest level of the home and records measurements for at least 48 hours. A report is compiled after reviewing these measurements which will indicate the average radon level in your home. If high levels are found we will be happy to refer you to a qualified mitigation service.
